Chandigarh

As kids, all of us had Shimla and Kullu-Manali on our bucket lists. But times have since changed. Aren’t we all now dreaming of going on an offbeat, non-mainstream trip? Our Spiti circuit is an unusual conglomeration of adventure and peace. Take this tour with us through picturesque villages and surreal forests, forts and monasteries, pretty lakes and farms. You’ll get introduced to some very warm-hearted people and bright cultural communities thriving in India.

Proceed for an overnight journey to Narkanda.

Day 2Narkanda Sightseeing

Also known as ‘The Gateway to Apple Country’, Narkanda is a place right out of a picture book. It’s a quaint little village full of greenery, narrow winding roads, soft breezes, sweet fragrance in the air and mountains in the background. At 2760 mts altitude and 70 km from Shimla, it is still a fairly unexplored place.
Sightseeing around the village, visiting a historic church, local schools, and fruit farms
Music and bonfire at night.
Dinner and overnight stay in Narkanda.

Day 3Narkanda to Chitkul / Rakchham Village

Early morning, proceed to Chitkul (6 hours). On the way, take photo stops at Sangla, Kamru Fort and Rakchham meadow. At an altitude of 3450 mts, it is the last inhabited village situated near the Indo-Tibetan border and lies on the north bank of the serene river Baspa.
Experience the authentic culture of Kinnaur
Village sightseeing and interaction with locals
Evening walk along the tranquil Baspa river
Dinner and overnight stay at a homestay in Chitkul.

Day 4Kalpa

Proceed to Kalpa (3/4 hrs). It is located six kilometres from the district HQ Reckong Peo. One of the major attractions is the magnificent view of Kinnaur-Kailash mountain from here. Nestled in the valley of the Sutlej river, it is considered the most scenic place in all of Himachal.
Visit the charming Roghi village, hidden 8 km from Kalpa.
Evening at the Roghi suicide point, a cliff that will take your breath away.
Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Kalpa.

Day 5Kalpa to Nako via Khab

After visiting the Kothi Devi temple in Kalpa, you’ll proceed from the forest of central Himachal and enter the cold desert region of upper Kinnaur (3 hours drive). On the way, stop for photos at Khab bridge to witness the confluence of rivers Sutlej and Spiti.
Reaching Nako Village, involves an interesting drive crossing Ka Loops. Nako, a Tibetan village, is home to the most pristine lake you’ll probably ever come across and it is the best spot to view the highest mountain of Himachal, Reo Purgyil (6816 mt).
Dinner and overnight stay in Nako.

Day 6Nako - Tabo - Kaza

Early morning, proceed to Kaza (2 hrs). On the way, you’ll make a few must-visit pitstops.
Tabo village (3280 mt), famously known as the ‘Ellora of North’. Tabo monastery here is a complex that holds 9 Temples, 23 Chortens, a Monk’s Chamber & Nun’s Chamber. The monastery contains a large number of Scriptures & Pieces of Art, Wall paintings & Stucco.
Dhankar Gompa is situated amidst a rocky cliff with a beautiful view of the landscape below.
Mud village – This place is like a green oasis in the middle of a desert.
Gue Village – is home to the 500-year-old mummified body of Sangha Tenzin with his teeth still intact. Visit here will certainly be interesting and add a little dark tourism flavour to this trip.

Kaza is a well-developed town. Here you’ll find an amazing combination of and balance between modern infrastructure and local festive culture. You can spend leisure time here shopping for handicrafts and souvenirs, or go cafe hopping!

Proceed to Chandrataal in the morning after breakfast (3 hrs, 4300 mt). On the way, photo stops at Chichim bridge, the highest bridge in Asia and Kunzum La, the highest point in this journey (4551 m).
Chandrataal, as the name suggests, is a region named after a crescent-shaped lake. Not only shape-wise but also beautiful wise the lake is as mesmerising and romantic as the moon. The camping experience in Chandrataal will definitely make you want to not go back home.
Dinner and overnight stay in tents in Chandrataal.
